Rules of competition

World Series race rules are refer to ICF Slalom Racing Competition Rules 2005. The course and individual gates must be navigated in accordance with ICF rules. The organizer has set the following procedure for the competition:

Course and number of gates

The number of gates for the Semi-final and Final is 20, of which 6 to 8 are upstrems. The course for the Semi-final and the Final will be completely different from the Qualification course.

Course setting

The Course Designer will be assigned by organizing federation according national rules for national championships. The Course Designer is responsible for the design of the course and ensures that the course is maintained in its original design during the competition. The Course Designer is responsible for proper hanging of the gates and of the other installations and must always be ready to make repairs or adjustments as necessary.

Demonstration run

At least one boat from each category. Demonstration run for qualification take part Friday evening or Saturday morning, depends on the number of entries. Course approval takes place thereafter the demonstration. Demonstration for the final will take part on Sunday before the Semi-final.

National cup - 4 CAT race

Will take part in all World Series races on Saturday, after the Qualification. During the World Series competitions special 4 CAT Relay races will be organized to increase the interest in developing the four Canoe/Slalom disciplines. In respect of high media and spectator interest about 4 CAT race, this is prime show of Saturday competition program. Each “4Cat”-Team Relay is a combination of: 1-K1M 1- K1W 1- C1M and 1- C2M Each boat negotiates only a quarter of the course. Teams change over boats at three specified gates = “Changeover gates” (Specified by the course designer; Example: Gate 5, 10, and 15). Teams will have only one run. The time is taken from the start of the first boat and ends when the fourth boat crosses the finish line. Teams may decide
which category negotiates which section of the course.

Start

The boats may only put in above the Start for the first boat and above the particular “Changeover” gate for the other boats. Finish: After the particular section is completed this boat must leave the course near his/her “changeover gate”. The boats are not allowed to cruise down the rest of the course.

Changeover rules

1st. paddler body must cross the gate line of the “Changeover gates” before the following paddler cross the “Changeover gates” line. At the “Changeover gates” both boats can make penalties. (This makes sure that both boats negotiate this gate correctly.)

Boat control

All boats and equipment have to be up to standard by ICF slalom rules. Check control before and random control during race will be supply.

Start order

Qualification : reverse order of current World Series Ranking
Semi-final : reverse order of qualification results
Final : reverse order of semi-final run
Where a competitor is not in the current ranking, then he/she will start at the beginning of the category.
